Created specifically for erosion control, containment and shelter applications, Concrete Canvas® (CC) products are part of a revolutionary class of new, innovative materials called Geosynthetic Cementitious Composite Mats (GCCMs). CC is a flexible, concrete filled geosynthetic which provides a thin and durable concrete layer when hydrated. 10-times faster to install than conventional concrete solutions; essentially, it’s Concrete on a Roll™.
Imagine being able to use concrete on slopes, in water, and in other hard to reach locations – with no forms, no mixing and minimal equipment. Concrete Canvas geosynthetic cementitious composite mat (GCCM) is a flexible fabric that will bend and curve, enabling it to follow the natural contours of the land including ditches and slopes.
And, because it comes in a variety of sizes, including rolls small enough for two men to carry, it reduces the need for heavy machinery. An ideal alternative to rip-rap, shotcrete and poured concrete, Concrete Canvas GCCM can be used in any place that needs protection from erosion or wear, and can be used to channel or contain water or other liquids.
Concrete Canvas® is used for a wide range of erosion control and weed suppression applications. It allows concrete construction with minimal plant and specialist training.
Typically ten-times faster to install than conventional solutions, essentially its Concrete on a Roll™: simply unroll and Just Add Water
CCX™ is part of a revolutionary class of construction materials called Geosynthetic Cementitious Composite Mats and Barriers (GCCM/Bs).It is a flexible, concrete filled geosynthetic, that hardens on hydration to form a thin, durable, water proof concrete layer. Essentially, it’s Concrete on a Roll™.
CX™ consists of two interconnected layers of geotextile that encapsulate a specially formulated dry concrete mix. An LLDPE geomembrane backing ensures the material has very high impermeability. CCX™ can be hydrated either by spraying or by being fully immersed in water. Two variants of CCX™ are currently available: CCX-MAT™ (CCX-M™) for erosion control applications & CCX-BARRIER™ (CCX-B™) for containment critical applications. CCX™ products exceed the minimum requirements of ASTM D8364 – Standard Specification for GCCM Materials.
CCX™ has an LLDPE geomembrane backing ensuring the material has very high impermeability, significantly reducing or eliminating seepage losses.
CCX™ has a high degree of durability with abrasion resistance more than 3.5 times that of standard OPC concrete.
CCX™ has very good long-term performance with a life expectancy in excess of 50 years.
CCX™ is a carbon efficient concrete solution that offers significant embodied carbon reduction compared to conventional concrete linings.
Concrete Canvas® consists of a 3-dimensional fiber matrix containing a specially formulated dry cementitious mix. A PVC backing ensures the CC is completely waterproof. CC can be hydrated by spraying or full immersion in fresh or salt water. Once set, the fibers reinforce the cementitious mix, preventing crack propagation and providing a safe plastic failure mode. As a result, CC provides a thin, durable, water proof and lower carbon alternative to traditional concrete.
CC can be laid at a rate of 200m²/hour, up to 10 times faster than conventional concrete solutions.
CC requires less plant, less personnel and no on-site mixing or measuring. Just add water. Available in hand-portable Batched Rolls.
The speed and ease of installation mean CC is more cost-effective than conventional concrete, with less logistical burden. For example, a single lorry of CCT2 can substitute for thirty 17T Mixer Trucks.
CC is a low mass, lower carbon technology which uses up to 95% less material than conventional solutions. A single pallet of CC can cover the same area as two 17T mixer trucks for many applications.
CC Hydro™ is the world’s first all-in-one armored impermeable liner for a wide range of containment applications, such as bund lining, lagoon lining, tank wall remediation and tank base lining. CC Hydro™ removes the need for protective top cover, dramatically reducing installation times and simplifying logistics.
CCH is available in 5mm and 8mm thicknesses
CC Hydro™ (CCH) combines the concrete filled geotextile technology of Concrete Canvas® with a highly impermeable, chemically resistant geomembrane liner. The liner incorporates a hi-visibility welding strip which allows joints to be thermally welded with a double-track or triple-track air channel for on-site testing. The product was specifically developed for applications within the Petrochemical and Oil & Gas industries.
CC Hydro™ combines the impermeability of a containment liner with the hard armour protection and durability of concrete, reducing install times and simplifying logistics.
CC Hydro™ does not require a protective top cover. This removes the need for additional excavation, treatment of contaminated arisings and import of costly fill material.
CC Hydro™ can be laid directly onto existing profiles without loss of volume capacity for refurbishment projects, providing significant overall time and cost savings.
CC Hydro™ provides effective weed suppression, eliminating the ongoing maintenance cost of soil covered systems. It reduces the end-of-life costs associated with treatment of any contaminated top cover.
Concrete Canvas® Shelters (CCS) are rapidly deployable hardened shelters that require only water and air for construction. Essentially, it’s a building in a bag.
CCS are constructed from Concrete Canvas CCT3, bonded to the outer surface of a plastic inner. Once inflated, it which forms a Nissen-Hut shaped structure.
CCS are deployed in four stages: delivery, inflation, hydration and setting
CCS are far more durable than conventional, soft skinned tents. They have a design life of over 10 years.
The hard shell and lockable doors of a CCS provide a level of security not possible with soft skinned structures, protecting stores, equipment and personnel.
The compressive structure of CCS has been modelled to be covered with sand or earth fill. This provides additional thermal mass and insulation, and an excellent level of thermal performance.
A 25m² CCS can be deployed by 2 people in less than 1 hour and is ready to use in 24 hours.
CCX-M® can be rapidly unrolled to line uniformly profiled irrigation canals. Joints can be thermally bonded or sealed with an adhesive then fixed with screws, to provide a low permeability lining solution.
CCX-M® can be rapidly unrolled to line a uniformly profiled channel. It is significantly faster, easier and less expensive to install than conventional concrete lined channels.
CCX-M® can be rapidly unrolled to line uniformly profiled slopes. CCX-U® may be used as an alternative to CCX-M® where erosion protection is required to counteract wind or rain acting directly on the slope only.
CCX-M® can be applied to cover either the exposed surface of the tank or the entire surface of the casing in a very short time and very easily compared to other methods.
Weed control is a growing application for Concrete Canvas® (CC). Compared to alternatives, CC can be installed on limited access sites and around sensitive infrastrcutre without risk of damage. Available in bulk and batched rolls, with the latter allowing for safe rail- and road-side installation, CC provides effective, durable and long-term weed suppression.
Concrete Canvas® and CC Hydro™ provide concrete repair, concrete resurfacing and concrete remediation solutions. CC’s flexibility and ease of install allow for rapid refurbishment of existing infrastructure.
