ARCH STEEL TECHNOLOGY (14)

Arched metal buildings are the perfect combination of elegance, durability & functionality!

Excellent prefabricated metal arched cross sections are connected successively forming a durable, self-supporting arched construction. Using the curve and in particular the arched design we gain the ability to achieve large openings. Columns, beams and metal shears cease to exist, as the construction is anchored directly to the two extreme sides of the foundation. The arches that make up the buildings are made of a unique metal alloy patent, the Galvalume Plus® a material of American construction that combines 55% aluminium and 45% zinc, which has unique characteristics & high strength.

  • Save time & cost.
  • Absolute indoor use, no intermediate columns Zero maintenance costs.
  • Easy Size & Shape Long Resistance to Adverse Weather Events.
  • Ability to dismantle and assemble if necessary Ability to move/lift a building.

The most common question!

Arched metal buildings cannot be costed with the square, as many factors play a role. It is important to inform us initially about the following:

  • What exactly do you want to make and what will be its use?
  • Dimensions (height, length, width).
  • Windows, doors etc.In what location will be erected?

The answer comes to give the top Galvalume Plus®.

American steel patent with high aluminum content, the Galvalume Plus® helps us to keep the interior of our buildings cool. Moreover, the deep grooves of the prefabricated cross sections (panels), which give the feeling of three-dimensional faces, leave less exposed surface and combined with the excellent performance of the material ensure up to 85% heat reflection. Combined with proper ventilation you now have a pleasant environment, without the use of a thermal insulation system.

We have achieved excellent energy efficiency, which would put us in the category of energy class A++ if there were!

We offer you many methods and materials that help us insulate our buildings with great ease.In addition, there are options for lining with wood, drywall, ready-made systems, etc. with hundreds of design and painting capabilities.

It’s easy and quick to make your building, but it’s still a new construction.

The procedure followed for licensing is exactly the same as that which you follow in the construction of each new building. The big advantage in our technology? Buildings are unfinished, removable, and even transportable, so in some cases this is enough to greatly facilitate the licensing process. Always according to local regulations the specific location your building will be erected. Of course our arched technology meets all the specifications and criteria to be licensed for any use!

Depends on what kind of separations you want.

We recommend and use the certified system of FRAMECAD an excellent system of prefabricated galvanized steel frame boretic type. Dry building systems such as drywall, cement board and any kind of other different panels are at your disposal. Choose what you want and what fits your needs and we will certainly recommend the most efficient and cost-effective material for each case. Our goal is to have as many materials and manufacturing options as possible that will be tailored to your needs and financial capabilities.

In any construction the “concrete”, as we usually say or generally the foundation increases the construction cost.

Choosing arched metal construction automatically you reduce the cost of your foundation as it requires significantly less amount of concrete than that needed for any other construction of similar use.

We design every detail and examine every factor you require. We can provide solutions and create extremely interesting buildings facilities at a lower cost and time. The designs, construction & foundation study are always offered to our customers.

Of course you can!

The design of the building always follows your own wishes. In the case of interior floor and some additional floor making use of other materials and creating a complex construction (metal parts mainly, beams etc. ) we succeed in having at your disposal loops and anything else you may need.

Very easily you can use any material to create a specially designed front masonry or construction that meets your own requirements. Do you want large openings to add one-piece, multi-breaking ceiling doors, rolls or garage doors? Did you imagine a glass or wooden facade? Whatever your needs and imagination may impose you will see it on your arched metal building!

The answer is YES!

Arched metal buildings consist of pre-fabricated cross sections (panels) fixed successively one after the other with screws and nuts making the process of enlarging your existing arched building very easy.

No!

One of the main advantages of arched metal buildings is their low, near-zero cost of future maintenance. Galvalume Plus® hardware provides minimal maintenance. You will not need to do any coating or any corrective activity on your building. If you want, you can just wash it!

Heating and air-conditioning systems, electrical wiring, plumbing and all kinds of other services that all modern constructions carry can easily be applied to your arched building.

The freedom of space offered by arched metal buildings enables us to adapt electrical routes either underground or “aerial” with special fastening systems applied inside the arches. The installation of water, heating, air conditioning installations has never been easier than in arched metal buildings. Their implementation plans and studies are always available from our team of engineers.

Skylights, ventilation systems, doors, windows etc. are available and easily adapted to our buildings.

Arched metal buildings are a modern construction technology that is constantly developed by its own users. Adding skylights is another way to allow the sun to make the interior of your building shine. Ventilators can be installed to help the air flow through the building correctly and also eliminate moisture accumulation. Side openings or other construction additions can take off your construction. You choose and we offer you in each case specially designed solutions to fit perfectly in your case.

Do you want to build a warehouse, a garage, a facility on your farm, an industrial shed or your dream home?

  • You bring us the property title and the topographical plan of your land. You tell us exactly what you want to do and what your needs are.
  • We look at all the papers, the land use, the regulations and the criteria by which we can work.
  • We start designing your construction by choosing the model that’s most suitable for you and its dimensions.
  • We present you with the perfect design with photo-realistic images of the finished project.
  • The detailed cost plan is being prepared for an evaluation of the budget for your project. Wait until the issue of the licenses by the competent authorities of the state. Your arched metal building is now, ready to be built!

CONCRETE CANVAS (47)

Category: CONCRETE CANVAS

Concrete Canvas® is part of a revolutionary new class of construction materials called Geosynthetic Cementitious Composite Mats (GCCMs). It is a flexible, concrete impregnated fabric that hardens on hydration to form a thin, durable, water proof and fire resistant concrete layer. Essentially, it’s concrete on a roll.

Category: CONCRETE CANVAS

Concrete Canvas® GCCM (CC) is typically used to replace conventional concrete for a wide range of erosion control and protection applications. Typical examples include channel lining, slope protection, bund lining, remediation works, culvert lining, outfall protection, mining vent walls, gabion covering and pipe protection. Our biggest markets are the Civil Infrastructure sector (principally road and rail), the Mining sector, the Petrochemical sector and the Agricultural sector.

Category: CONCRETE CANVAS

CC can be supplied as either palletised bulk rolls, or man portable batched rolls. CC5TM bulk rolls are 200sqm, CC8TM are 125sqm and CC13TM are 80m2. CC5TM batched rolls are 10sqm and CC8TM are 5sqm. Due to its relative weight, CC13TM is not available in batched rolls as standard.

Category: CONCRETE CANVAS

Concrete   Canvas® GCCM has nominal dry weights of 7kg/m2, 12kg/m2 and 19kg/m2 for CC5TM, CC8TM and CC13TM respectively.

Category: CONCRETE CANVAS

CC is manufactured in our UK production plant using bespoke machinery designed by Concrete Canvas® Ltd, to impregnate a custom cement blend into a 3 dimensional synthetic fibre matrix, with a PVC coating on one surface.

Category: CONCRETE CANVAS

CC is currently used in over 80 countries around the world and exports make up over 80% of turnover. Outside of the UK our biggest markets are Brazil, Chile, Russia, Australia, Indonesia and the Middle East.

Category: CONCRETE CANVAS

Customers include Network Rail, Highways England, The Environment Agency, Vale, and many more. We have also supplied 7 of the top 10 oil and gas companies in the world.

Category: CONCRETE CANVAS

Contractors include BAM Nuttall, Costain Group, Balfour Beatty, Morgan Sindall, Trant, Kier, Morrison Construction, Skanska, AMCO, Murphy Group, Dyer & Butler, Amey Colas, J Breheny Contractors Ltd and Knights Brown Ltd among many others.

Category: CONCRETE CANVAS

CC has achieved Euroclass classification B-s1, d0 and has passed the American MSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administration) fire testing for use in underground mining applications.

Category: CONCRETE CANVAS

CC has excellent resistance to chemical attack, in particular sulphate attack, which means it is well suited for use in ground surfacing applications. The concrete we use is also much more resistant to chemical attack compared to ordinary Portland concrete. CC has passed acid (ph1), alkaline (ph13) and hydrocarbon immersion tests to BS14414.

Category: CONCRETE CANVAS

CC is increasingly being used for slope protection, as an alternative to shotcrete to protect slopes from surface erosion caused by weathering, surface run-off and environmental degradation. In certain applications CC can be used for structural slope stabilisation by combining it with steel mesh and soils nails (see the CC Installation Guide: Slope Protection for more details). In this case the project should be designed by a geotechnical engineer.

Category: CONCRETE CANVAS

Slope protection is where the body of the slope is inherently stable but the surface of the slope is prone to erosion from weathering and surface slip. Typically this might be on a sandstone rock face, or on slopes constructed from a mixture of small rocks and fine sand where rainfall causes loss of fines which then destabilises the slope causing rock-falls.

Slope stabilisation is where the body of the slope is inherently unstable and is at risk of suffering from deep slip (where a large mass of the slope collapses). This may be caused by ground- water lubricating the soil or from other factors such as ground vibration. Conventional solutions include shotcrete, steel mesh and soil nails which are used to stabilise the slope by providing structural reinforcement. When combined with a steel mesh facing system, CC can substitute for the shotcrete component of this design for many projects but must be included as part of a solution designed by a qualified geotechnical engineer.

Category: CONCRETE CANVAS

The level of waterproofing that materials provide is typically referred to in geotechnics using a measure of impermeability called the k-value. CC has been tested to BS1377 and has an average k value of between 10-8 and 10-9 m/s, which is similar to clay; a range commonly referred to as being impervious.

If the overall impermeability level is critical for your application then you will need to carefully consider the CC jointing method you use. Please see the CC User Guide: Jointing and Fixing document for more information.

Category: CONCRETE CANVAS

We do not recommend CC as a vehicle trackway in most circumstances. However CC can be used as hard armour capping of ground to prevent dust generation, erosion and wash-out of fines. The load bearing capacity of the trackway should be based on the surface modulus (CBR) of the ground which should be sufficient to support the requisite traffic loading.

The CC should therefore only be used to provide surface erosion control rather than to increase the surface modulus of any given substrate. For this type of application we would typically recommend 2 layers of CC13TM with an offset overlap and the 2 layers screwed together.

Category: CONCRETE CANVAS

CC should be stored under cover in dry conditions, away from direct sunlight and within the manufacturers sealed packaging.

Category: CONCRETE CANVAS

When stored in the manufacturers packaging in the correct conditions, CC can be kept for up to 24 months without significant degradation in performance. After the 24 month point CC will continue to function but it may take longer to reach the values specified on the CC data sheet.

Category: CONCRETE CANVAS

CC will start to lose performance once opened and should be used within a few days to prevent any significant degradation. It is best practise to reseal any packaging after opening to extend this period as much as possible.

Category: CONCRETE CANVAS

Yes. Once wet, CC has a working time of approximately 1-2 hours in a UK climate.

Category: CONCRETE CANVAS

Yes. Warm water should be used for hydration and plastic sheeting should be applied over hydrated material during setting. Consult the CC & CCH Hydration Guide for further instruction or contact Concrete Canvas® Ltd directly. Generally, the same setting conditions that apply to conventional concrete pouring should be observed when installing CC.

Category: CONCRETE CANVAS

Yes. It is advised to hydrate CC at dusk to avoid the hydration water evaporating in warm environments. In very hot conditions, it is advised to re-wet the material at 2 hour intervals for the first 8 hours.

Category: CONCRETE CANVAS

CC has a design life of over 50 years in conditions similar to a UK climate. For advice on specific climates please contact Concrete Canvas® Ltd.

Category: CONCRETE CANVAS

Providing it is installed correctly, CC requires no regular post- installation maintenance.

Category: CONCRETE CANVAS

CC can be demolished using standard construction demolition equipment and disposed of in the same manner as conventional concrete waste.

Category: CONCRETE CANVAS

Yes. In sufficient order volumes, Concrete Canvas® Ltd can accelerate or retard the setting times of CC to accommodate different environmental conditions and applications.

Category: CONCRETE CANVAS

One of the key features of CC is that the fixed internal volume and control during manufacture ensures void space is set within carefully prescribed bounds and subsequently limits the Water:Cement ratio achieved in the field. It is therefore not possible to over hydrate CC and can therefore be installed in adverse weather conditions.

Category: CONCRETE CANVAS

The CC will not reach its full strength and the setting time may be delayed.

Category: CONCRETE CANVAS

Yes. It will hydrate fully from immersion.

Category: CONCRETE CANVAS

It depends on the application. Consult the application table in the CC User Guide: General or contact Concrete Canvas® Ltd directly for technical advice.

Category: CONCRETE CANVAS

The 3 most common methods are: a screwed overlap joint, a screwed and sealed overlap joint or a thermally bonded overlap joint. There are a number of other mechanical and non mechanical methods which may be suitable for particular applications, Please see the CC User Guide: Jointing & Fixing or contact CC for more details.

Category: CONCRETE CANVAS

CC can be hydrated using saline or non saline water. The water does not need to be potable.

Category: CONCRETE CANVAS

The minimum ratio of water:CC is 1:2 by weight. For Example, CC8 weighs 12kg/m2 and a minimum of 6 litres per m2 is required for hydration. CC cannot be over hydrated so an excess of water is always recommended.

Category: CONCRETE CANVAS

CC can be installed onto vertical surfaces.

Category: CONCRETE CANVAS

This is dependent on the application and the quality/inclination of the substrate; as a guide we recommend pegging at 2m intervals and at joints.

Category: CONCRETE CANVAS

CC should be installed with the fibre surface exposed. The fibre reinforced concrete layer will protect the PVC backing from weathering and UV damage.

Category: CONCRETE CANVAS

The PVC is an important part of how CC functions, both in terms of maintaining its waterproof properties and preventing water loss during hydration. We do not supply CC without the PVC backing.

Category: CONCRETE CANVAS

Prior to hydrating, unset CC can be cut using basic hand tools. It is recommended to use snap off disposable blades or handheld self sharpening powered disc cutters. After CC has set, it can be cut using angle grinders, jigsaws with ceramic blades or good quality tile cutters.

Category: CONCRETE CANVAS

General PPE precautions should be taken; face masks, protective clothing and gloves should be worn when handling CC. CC does not contain measurable amounts of soluble chromium (VI) and is not classified as an irritant. Consult the CC & CCH (M)SDS document for more information.

Category: CONCRETE CANVAS

CC typically replaces 100-150mm of poured, sprayed or precast concrete, resulting in typical material savings of 95%. This directly results in a reduction on the carbon footprint of construction works. A recent Life Cycle Assessment found that CC8 contains 45% of the embodied carbon compared to a 150mm ST4 poured concrete channel, before the carbon savings are also considered

Category: CONCRETE CANVAS

Yes. CC has been approved for use by the Environment Agency (EA) SEPA and Natural Resources Wales on several projects since 2009 and case studies are on our website. Project approval is granted on a case-by-case basis.

Category: CONCRETE CANVAS

CC has a low wash out rate and limited alkaline reserve. Unlike most concretes it is not classed as an irritant.

Category: CONCRETE CANVAS

CC is stocked and supplied in its natural colour (mottled grey) as standard. There are a number of options for colouring CC including dying the surface fabric fibres or applying coloured surface treatments, such as painting the fibre surface of CC with a good quality exterior masonry paint.

Category: CONCRETE CANVAS

CC is supplied in standard widths of 1.0m for CC5TM and 1.1m for CC8TM and CC13TM. Wide Rolls up to 4m (CC5TM) and 4.4m (CC8TM) can be manufactured to order. It is possible to produce narrower rolls but this would be subject to a minimum order quantity.

Category: CONCRETE CANVAS

Yes, bespoke lengths can be supplied subject to a batching surcharge.

Category: CONCRETE CANVAS

Concrete Canvas® Ltd can supply a full range of ancillary products for CC installation including ground pegs and sealant.

Category: CONCRETE CANVAS

Suspended non-structural building components are critical for the proper functioning of a building, and make up a high percentage of a building’s damage in a seismic event. Properly engineered bracing of these services is particularly critical for essential facilities that must remain operational in the aftermath of a seismic or blast event (such as hospitals, fire/rescue, water/power, etc.), or facilities representing a substantial hazard to human life (such as schools, prisons, etc.).

Category: GRIPPLE SEISMIC

Gripple seismic wire bracing systems are specifically designed and engineered to brace and secure suspended non-structural equipment (VAV boxes, fans, unit heaters, small in-line pumps, etc.) and components (HVAC duct, conduit/cable tray, and piping) within a building or structure to minimise damage from an earthquake or a seismic event.

Gripple seismic bracing systems are ideal for use on non-structural components and equipment requiring seismic design, such as in essential facilities that are required for emergency operations in the aftermath of an earthquake.
